Hmmm.... We sound like dirty NYC gutter rock being molested by Pacific Northwest indie sonic fusion. So we tend to be diverse in our sound cause we dont only want to stick to 1 sound all the time. Our songs on here speak for themselves. We are also planning on recording a new EP soon with additional songs as well as new and revised versions of some of our old ones. |

| BAND BIO |
REMENITIA (Pronounced Re-Me-Ni-Sha) is an Anarcha-Feminist Punk/Riot Grrrl/Indie Rock Band hailing from New York City. Remenitia formed when Tony and Nikki converged in a little gutter in Queens, New York City in September of 2004. For those curious, Remenitia formed originally with Tony on guitar, and Nikki on drums. When Tony and Nikki met, the musical chemistry was there from the start and the 2 hit it off right away and became not only bandmates, but best friends as well. After a few failed singer-bassist searches, Nikki began singing the songs from behind the drum kit while playing drums while we continued our search. Eventually, Nikki and Tony decided that Nikki should be the singer-bassist of the band since she is an awesome singer. (Check out her solo stuff at www.myspace.com/doriscellar) So Tony lent Nikki his old bass and the seeds of what is now Remenitia were planted. The rest, is shall we say, history.Were into all sorts of music, primarily indie, grunge, riot grrrl, punk, metal, early 90's stuff. Tony Sludge and Nikki-teen take turns writing the songs and their songwriting skills have resulted in a very diverse sound with a melding of all their influences, resulting in various styles of rock which are often hard to group into any specific genre. So our sound is sure to please people from all walks of life.We like to write about all sort of themes, ranging from social issues and activism, anarchism, feminism, pro-choice, gay/lesbian rights, drug addiction, child abuse, anti-government/anti-war sentiment, love-hate themes, anti-racism/anti-fascism, funny obnoxious-sarcastic ideas, good ol' dirty-raunchy crudeness, to other metaphoric themes and abstract ideas and wacky things as well. We also appreciate all the support that we have gotten at our live shows and in our musical journey. We are influenced by a lot of bands such as grunge bands like Nirvana, Hole, Pearl Jam, Babes In Toyland, Mudhoney, 7 Year Bitch, Alice In Chains, L7, Temple Of The Dog, Green River, The Gits, The Melvins, and riot grrrl bands like Bikini Kill, Sleater-Kinney, Team Dresch, Excuse 17, Bratmobile, The Casual Dots, Erase Errata, The Frumpies, Heavens To Betsy, Huggy Bear, The Gossip, Le Tigre, and other bands like Sonic Youth, Pavement, Comet Gain, The Shocker, Katastrophy Wife, Lunachicks, Jack Off Jill, Scarling, Tool, A Perfect Circle, The Misfits, The Breeders, and The Pixies. All these bands, influenced us in tiny ways here and there. But we are our own entity. |
| EXPLAIN THE NAME |
We did a play on words from a sentence we created - "Remembering the Dementia of our Militia". For starters its suppose to be an Oxymoron, since Dementia is a condition in which you forget things, so how can you remember that which you forgot? 2nd, we took pieces from each of the main words in the sentence and then formed 1 name from it. |
| GEAR |
For guitar, we use a Fender Jagstang guitar with modifications done which are a Seymour Duncan JB in the humbucker slot and a Seymour Duncan Hotrail in the single coil slot. Next, we use a Fender Hot Rod DeVille 4X10 Tube amp. for effects, we use tons of Boss pedals as well as the famous Electroharmonix Big Muff. For bass, we use a Fender Jazz Bass, and an Ampeg Bass amp, sometimes we run a Boss OS1 overdrive pedal through the bass for bass distortion. For drums, we currently use a Tama Superstar kit. |
