BAND MEMBERS: Panic Roots is a punk rock band born in 1999. Panic Roots line-up is made of: Dave (Drums, vocals), Al (bass guitar), Mat (Guitar, vocals) and Jake (Guitar, vocals). The band is based in Italy, even though the activity is spread also across Germany and London. The band is fond of 90’s Californian stuff and influences of bands such as Rancid and Operation Ivy were pretty cheeky in the first two albums. Early discography used to be self-produced for Nerv Records, which is still involved in diy distribution. After recording “Third Impact” (Kob Records – 2006) Panic Roots started their international activity. “Immortal” is the fourth official album and features fifteen mature and catchy tunes. It mixes crunchy and fairly distorted guitars, bubbly bass lines and extraordinary drumming technique. It also shows a distinct touch of dark comic style in the cover, where a creepy ripper celebrates immortality… The band is now promoting the new tracks through several gigs an intense web campaign. Just type Panic Roots in any common search engine to find out videos, news and playbills.

1999 Panic Roots was established in 1999. In that period Mat and Dave use to play in a band called Ecstasy, while Jake and Al use to play with Noxvenuto. Both of bands where deep into Nirvana, Green Day, Nofx, Offspring and Rancid. Their very first gig took place in Adria (Ro), at school. It was 24th December, Panic got introduce to their friends. 2000 The four piece band writes songs based on the chords suggested by Mat. The songs sound fast and sunny, basically hardcore + ska. During an extremely hot August, they record a five songs demo called Follow me. During fall and winter they start playing around (Pubs, normally); their first good gig took place at Taverna dei Fiamminghi (PD). 2001 Panic Roots produce so many new songs that in February they are ready to record a full-lenght album. 15 songs, for a debut album called Riot (Not bad, but a bit too much "grungy"). Stefano Bertelli enjoys himself filming a promo for the song Follow me. It's time to have fun, sometimes... Finally Panic Roots plays in a couple of small squat club like cso Samir (RO) and cso Dazdramir (FE). 2002 The start is just amazing: Panic Roots play in Turin (cso El Paso) and in Padova (cso Pedro) supporting bands like Skarface and Los Fastidios. And it's time to establish their own diy label as well: Nerv records. There are some good ideas but lack of money so, instead of recording a new full length album, Nerv records produce a seven songs ep called For who cannot wait. Troubles upcoming in November, when Mat decides to quit the band for a while. 2003 El Brondo (friend and bass player for Grunido) joins the band as a guitar player. Jake sings most of songs and re-write some lyrics, leading them to politics and social activism. The style is pretty much the same, just more hardcore and more ska. The new line up gets virtually baptized in Bologna, thanx to a gig at cso Ex mercato 24. After few months Panic Roots is ready for Second Impact, a new 15 songs album quite hard and dark. Troubles upcoming from the outside world, no places to play and quite a hard period for all unsigned bands in Italy leave Panic Roots stuck in their studio. 2004 Mat takes his way home and buys a Jaguar instead of a Strato. Jake buys a new amplifier. Things seem to be cool to re-start. Stefano Bertelli films a new promo for the song Belmondo. Al joins Los Fastidios as a bass player, travels across Europe playing street punk. Just to have some fun, they record a new ep called For who still cannot wait. Dave takes few guitar lessons and establish his B-side project called Bad Taste. 2005 It is still a bad period for indipendent music, so it's impossible to plan a an "official" debut album. Nerv records keeps on producing diy swindles, including german and croatian bands. Tommy, a good guy who sells merch for Los Fastidios, would like to record some songs rockabilly style. Al takes a stand-up bass and things are ready to record a weird and creepy ep called Tommy Peters and the Panic Roots (check the 16 mm video in the download section).
