Well hello everyone. Congratulations- you have reached my punkrockers page. This is the real Joanna Angel. I am not some 60 year old fat guy pretending to be Joanna Angel, I really am Joanna Angel. So like, if any other "Joanna Angel" on punk rockers messages you and tries to have cyber sex with you- don't do it. You might recognize me from the ever so amazing website BurningAngel dot com, and you also might know me as "that girl who had the fake orgasm on LA Ink." Yes- that indeed was me so please don't message me and ask if that was me. Anyways. You wanna know a little about me? Well... I'll tell you! About seven years ago my roommate in college (Mitch) asked me to start a porn site with him. At the time, I was a senior at Rutgers University.... with no post graduation plans... or at least none that excited me at all. Aside from Girls Gone Wild infomercials... I had never watched a porn in my life. I knew nothing about the industry- I didn't even know porn was an industry at all. But for some reason, the idea sounded excited... so I said "yeah, sure." Before the site came together I planned on only working behind the camera... and well... that sorta changed and now I stick cameras in my behind. OK, I'm sorry, I have a bad habit of telling terribly corny jokes. Anyways, what was I saying? Oh yeah... so when I started asking my friends to model, I felt really hypocritical asking girls to do something I hadn't done myself. For the sake of um... equality or something... I asked Mitch to please photograph me naked, and... well... I really liked it. And then when the site went live and people saw the photos... I liked it even more. So in any case, we called this website "BurningAngel." There wasn't all that much to it... it was a few nude photo-sets of me and some of my friends, along with some dirty stories I wrote, and an interview with a friend's band. The site in its first form was god awful. There were broken HTML codes everywhere, the photos were blatantly un-edited and un-photoshopped and my stories and interviews were ridden with typos... but for some reason... people really liked it... and for some reason... I really loved it. We were one of the first (not the first- but one of the first) adult sites to feature "punk rock" chicks--not your average blond, busty fake-tanned girls. This wasn't really on purpose... Mitch and I just so happened to be "punk-rock" kids in college- with some friends who kinda looked like us, who agreed to get naked for us and let us photograph them. I wasn't deliberately rejecting "mainstream" porn... I had no idea what it even looked like at the time. I was just making things up as I went along and asking my friends for help. The first two years running my company were kind of crazy... I really had no idea what I was getting into. Naked pictures of punk rock chicks on the internet was apparently, a big deal. Some people were said we "started a movement" others were said we were "ruining punk and everything it stands for." Some women thought of me as a hero, and some blamed me for contributing to domestic violence. I was getting all this attention - both good and bad- for "doing porn" and the truth was, there was nothing but naked photos on BurningAngel, which to me didn't even feel like porn at all. So yeah... after two years of being bombarded with questions about whether porn was good or bad, punk or corporate, feminist or degrading... I figured I should probably sit down and watch some porn. I was fortunate to have gotten whole box of porn from a friend and I watched every movie in the box. I watched lots of different kinds of porn. Porn with plots, porn without plots, porn with 200lb women in it, porn with girls who looked like they had eating disorders, porn with blond girls with fake boobs and porn with girls with short black hair and pale skin... porn where girls did things I didn't think were humanly possible and porn that had some of the most soft and sensual romantic sex I'd ever seen. I was blown away. I was like, wow... I love porn... it's awesome... but I thought porn would be a lot more awesome if it was done my way. The next day I went out and bought a video camera... it was time to start shooting videos of people fucking. After a grueling year of shooting, editing and re-editing, we finally pulled together our first movie, staring myself: it was called "BurningAngel.com--The Movie." After that, things really took off- and me, and my company really figured out who we were. The New York Times and the Village Voice, started writing about me and my company, and hundreds of girls were applying to get on the website. It was all really crazy because everything seemed so organic to me. In the midst of this buzz I was called by some people at Hustler Video to go in for some meetings. I flew out to LA and started meeting people in the "real porn" industry, and eventually I started directing for Hustler Video, which gave way to Joanna's Angels and Joanna's Angels 2, both nominated for several AVN awards in 2006 and 2007. In 2007 Joanna's Angels 2 won for Best Sex Comedy. Wooohooo! I was like, Yes! I succeeded at making a hot, FUNNY porn with girls who look like me (as opposed to girls who looked like Pamela Anderson), and people actually liked it! That felt good. BurningAngel now has almost 200 girls, and about 100 videos- which are updated bi-weekly on the website. Not to mention- I've had the pleasure of interviewing some amazing bands which you can read on the website (I recently interviewed Brendon Small, the creator of Metalocalypse which was really awesome). People sign up for memberships from all over the world, and we get countless amounts of fan-mail thanking us for making porn that isn't like everyone else's. I have directed, produced and starred in a whole shitload of adult movies- mostly for my own company but I have also worked for other major adult studios. I release a new DVD every month now with my own production company (BurningAngel Entertainment) - and we have won three AVN awards to date- one for "most outrageous sex scene" (Repenetrator), one for "best sex comedy" (Joanna's Angels 2) and one for "best specialty release" (Cum on My Tattoo 3). I also recently won an XRCO award for "best on screen chemistry" with my boyfriend- James Deen.... awwwwwwww isn't that cute? I launched JoannaAngel.com and am in the process of launching a whole bunch of other new sites. Just you wait. My empire will take over the internet- one naked tattooed girl at a time!! =) This has certainly been an interesting voyage, but really- it has just begun.
